Food for the Poor
Republic partners with Food For The Poor to improve the living conditions for the 5,000 impoverished residents of Barriere Battant, in Petit Goave, Haiti.
Barriere Battant lacks available economic opportunities. Many families live in poorly constructed shacks made of wood, sticks and old zinc, which leave them vulnerable to extreme weather conditions. They have no access to running water or a sewage system to properly dispose of waste, and this leaves them vulnerable to cholera and waterborne diseases.
Through this project, residents of Barriere Battant will be supplied the necessary resources to properly develop their agricultural and animal husbandry initiatives to promote self-sustainable livelihoods.
In conjunction with our partners, Republic Airways has made it our goal to build 80 homes equipped with water, sanitation and street lamps for families living in extreme conditions, drill and install water wells, and construct a school.
