Your Time Is Respected Working at Republic

When you work as a Pilot, you know you’re not signing up for just another 9 to 5 job. It’s a career where you may be away from home for five or six nights in a row. That’s why, as a Pilot, it’s important to know that the airline you fly with understands the sacrifices you make and rewards you for them. Republic Airways Base Chief Pilot Anthony Lombardo shares more about how the work rules make Republic Airways a great place to work as a Pilot.

No Junior Manning

Pilots spend a lot of time away from home. It’s part of the job. This is why it’s so important that they can enjoy their time off without the stress of being called in.

“It’s hard to plan your life when you don’t even know your work schedule,” Lombardo says. “With the No Junior Manning policy at Republic Airways, you know that your days off are actually going to be days off.”

It doesn’t matter your seniority, as a Republic Pilot, you can trust their schedule.

“You can buy tickets to a concert or a ball game, schedule a dentist appointment or just relax with the family, without worrying if you’re going to get a phone call,” Lombardo explains.

Duty Rig and Trip Rig

“There are so many things outside of your control as a Pilot,” Lombardo mentions. “Inclement weather, maintenance issues and airport issues, for example, can all leave you grounded.”

When this happens, Republic Airways knows it’s not your fault and believes you should still be compensated for being present to operate your flight. Our Trip Rigs and Duty Rigs guarantee Pilots a certain number of paid hours while out of base or on duty. With a Duty Rig of 1:2, a Trip Rig of 1:4 and protected pay for canceled trip legs, you can be confident that even when the unexpected happens, you’re still being rewarded for your time.

Daily Minimum Credit and Leg-by-Leg Cancellation

Republic Airways protects Pilots not only when something goes wrong on a trip but also when your trip is short or there isn’t a trip at all.

“There’s nothing more disheartening than showing up and having your trip canceled. That’s time you’re not getting back,” Lombardo says. “It’s rare that these situations occur where Daily Minimum Credit and Leg-By-Leg Cancelation kick in, but when it does, we’re happy to know that Republic Airways values our time.

With the Daily Minimum Credit at Republic, you know that even if one leg of your trip is shorter than the four hour and twelve minute daily minimum, you’ll still get paid as if it were.

“The work rules at Republic were a big selling point for me when I first started here,” Lombardo says. “Especially compared to other regionals. It shows that Republic understands we’re not just Pilots, we’re people. They want us to make the most of our day off. They respect our time.”
